"Roll back the ball," James Corrigan of the Telegraph argues in this story looking ahead to what ought to happen in golf and what to look for. "The horse has probably bolted on this one, but it is never too late. All of golf's ills can be traced back to the negligence of the authorities to rein in the turbo-charged golf ball. The courses are too long, the golf is too boring and the game is suffering. Do something now."

Geoff Ogilvy is among the more astute observers of all things golf, notably course architecture. In this story he wrote for Golf Australia, he defines his perfect golf course: "So my perfect course is going to incorporate width off the tee. It isn't going to be too long. And most of the challenge will be found in the shots to the greens."

Sang-Moon Bae of South Korea will play in the Hyundai Tournament of Champions next week, but "must return to Korea by the end of January or he could risk criminal charges as his current permit expires in the coming days, according to his mother." All Korean men must complete two years of military service, Reuters writes in this look at Bae's pending military dilemma. "(Bae) is seeking legal counsel to work through the military issues in Korea,' the 28-year-old golfer's manager said in a statement released on Friday."
