People on Twitter are happy that Charlie Sifford will receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom

November 11, 2014

Charlie Sifford will go down in history as one of the legends of the game. Not necessarily for what he did on the golf course -- even though he did win twice on tour -- but because of what he stood for. Sifford broke the PGA Tour's color barrier in 1961, paving the way for countless other golf professionals at every level including, of course, Tiger Woods. In 2006, he discussed his life with Golf Digest's Guy Yocom.

On Tuesday, the White House announced that Sifford would be awarded the highest civilian honor that's possible to receive -- the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Twitter, understandably, was very happy at the decision.
