Ian Poulter is outspoken, immensely confident (some say arrogant), and he flaunts his wealth. It's no coincidence that he tends to rub people the wrong way.
But underneath all that is a fascinating story about a man who left school at 15 to work in a golf shop and eventually rose to become a professional golfer. Poulter relives that story in a documentary by Ballantine, which is using the film to promote its launch of a new golf club in October 2014.
"The pressure was mounting as the round was building. I was almost at the top of the leader board and my heart was pounding," Poulter says of how he felt during qualifying school. "I wanted to be inside the ropes; I did not want to be outside the ropes, watching."
