HOYLAKE, England -- All eyes were on Tiger Woods (apart from most of the eyes in America, which were sleeping) as he made his return at the 2014 British Open at Royal Liverpool. Tiger won the most recent of his three Opens here in 2006, and a back injury means this is his first major back since last year's PGA Championship, where he finished T-40.
How'd he fare on his first hole of the tournament? Well, he started with a good tee shot.
Then he fanned his second shot right into a greenside bunker.
That led to a minor spitting malfunction.
He hit a poor bunker shot over the green for his third shot.
But he lagged his par putt to about five feet and knocked in the putt for bogey.
Tiger went on to bogey his second hole of the day, bringing him to two over par through his first two holes.
