If you need another reason to play golf this weekend, consider this

By Ryan Herrington

Before you settle into the recliner to watch the U.S. Open this weekend are you going to try to squeeze in your own round of golf? If so, why not do it while also raising money for a good cause.

ZERO - The End of Prostate Cancer is an advocacy and awareness foundation that promotes research to fight the disease and spreads the word about the importance of early testing for men. In conjunction with Father’s Day, the foundation is holding a national “Do It For Dad” campaign, June 13-15, that allows anybody playing golf on any course in the country -- par-3, nine hole, 18 hole, mini-golf, etc. -- to participate.

By going to zerocancer.org/golf-a-thon you can register and get access to your own fundraising home page. It’s can be customized, allowing you to express what you’re doing and personalize why you’re participating. The page includes tools that will allow you to share your message with friends via email and social media and let them know you're looking for their support.

Golfers can sign up individually to participate or pair up with other golfers to form teams to help raise added funds. All donations go to ZERO and will be used to raise awareness about prostate cancer, which is expected to impact 1 in 6 men this year according to the foundation.
