Style For Her: Long live the sweater vest

May 30, 2014

As part of my quest to help female golfers look more stylish and feel more comfortable on the course, I'm going to highlight one outfit per week, from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Last week, I kicked off this series by putting together two outfits. This week, I celebrate the sweater vest.

For some reason, I have a hard time finding sweater vests made for women. Not a lot of companies make them, and I can't figure out why. They're flattering and comfortable and can accent any outfit to make it significantly less boring. Here, I've layered LIJA's Varisty Vest ($95) with Nike's white novelty sleeveless golf polo ($70). The yellow and pink trim in the gray vest add enough color to the outfit, which is why I stuck with a white sleeveless. A gray sleeveless would also work. I've paired the vest and polo a white Athleta skirt ($54-64). Any of Athleta's skirts, in white, would be perfect. Since a vest makes any outfit a bit more formal, I generally pair them with wingtips or other more sophisticated shoes. Here, I'm using the True Linkswear True Dame wingtips ($130), and I'm matching the shoe's pink trim to the GFORE's "blossom" glove ($35). Top it off with Oakley's Caveat shades ($150) and you have yourself an outfit.
