Jimmy Walker's ball hits a bird in mid-flight

By John Strege

Jimmy Walker’s iron shot from the tee on the par-4 17th hole in the second round of the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial on Friday nicked a bird in mid-flight, though it did not appear to harm the bird. Walker initially thought he had missed it.

“I couldn't see that,” he said. “I don't think so, or otherwise it probably wouldn't have gone anywhere. It got down there pretty far. We saw it fly the whole way and then it kind of disappeared over the trees, so I don't think so.”

At first, Golf Channel's Peter Oosterhuis thought it missed, too. "I don't know how close the bird was to the ball," he said, "but luckily they didn't collide."

On closer examination, both Oosterhuis and Walker concluded otherwise. Walker Tweeted as such:
