Impact: The Players' inaugural winner sure looks familiar

By Alex Holmes

"I never worried about money, except that I knew that all I had to worry about was golf. As long as I could play, I was going to make money." —Jack Nicklaus

Forty years ago, Nicklaus won the inaugural Tournament Players Championship by two strokes over J.C. Snead. The Golden Bear would go on to win the event twice more during his career and remains its only three-time winner.

While Jack’s classic style and attention to fit always made him look like a million bucks on the course, but his Players titles netted him just $170,000. By comparison, this week's winner will walk out with close to $1.8 million.
