Graeme McDowell accidentally started a 'drive for show, putt for dough' debate on Twitter

Graeme McDowell isn't a long hitter, and he's the first to admit it. He ranked 136th (285 yards) and 161st (277 yards) in Driving Distance on the PGA Tour in 2012 and 2013, respectively, and this year is 181st, averaging 276 yards a drive.

But that's not to say it bothers McDowell. He gets around it by hitting his driver really straight (he ranked fifth, 15th and 15th on tour during that same time period) and this year at least, through stellar putting (he's second on tour in Strokes Gained/Putting so far in 2014). He basically tweeted as much on Tuesday:

For whatever reason, that last tweet initiated a bit of a debate, and the good natured McDowell couldn't help but get sucked-in:
