Video: Mickelson tossing footballs into crowd at 16

February 01, 2014

On the eve of the Super Bowl, one of golf's most rabid NFL fans wasn't entirely focused on golf. Phil Mickelson took the occasion to throw several footballs into the raucus crowd ringing the 16th hole at the TPC Scottsdale in the third round of the Waste Management Open on Saturday.

It apparently didn't help his golf, either. Coming off a birdie at 15, Mickelson double-bogeyed the 16th hole and bogeyed the 18th to complete a back-nine of two-over par 38 and a round of even-par 72. The defending champion, Mickelson is tied for 40th.
