New gadget allows you to catch any bandit who runs off with your golf clubs

January 17, 2014

Hopefully it has never happened to you, but if it has, you know the pain. One moment you're enjoying a refreshing beverage at the 19th hole, and the next you're getting ready to leave the course only to find your clubs have disappeared.

Ordinarily, the next step is to call 911. Now with Locca, all you have to do is launch the app to find your clubs (and then dial 911). The service provides clients with a small GPS tracker about the size of a matchbox that can be hidden inside a golf bag (or shoe bag or valuables pouch). The tracker relays information about its whereabouts back to an app on your phone or mobile device. Rates begin at 14,90 euros a month (the company is based in Europe. The U.S. equivalent is about $20).

Now, if only they made trackers for golf balls.
