Bobby Knight once had an instructional golf show and it looked awesome

By Alex Myers

Legendary college basketball coach Bobby Knight is as well-known for his temper as he is for the three NCAA Championships he won at Indiana University. Therefore, it shouldn't be any surprise to learn he can get a little hot under the cardigan on the golf course as well.

In a clip of golf-related outtakes, Knight is shown hitting balls, reading scripts for commercials, and of course, getting very frustrated and cursing. A lot. If you've seen this before we apologize, but it's worth your time again -- if you don't mind the explicit language.

There are plenty of gems in the 10-minute clip from Knight, who is currently a college basketball analyst for ESPN. Here are two of our favorites that we can actually write in print:

"Pizza Hut is to appetite what Jack Nicklaus is to golf." Huh? And. . .

"What better way to get back in your wife's good graces after spending a day on the course than by doing something at home. Economy Plumbing can help you with anything you want to do in the bathroom or the kitchen. Take a crap, uh. . ." At which point everyone in the room broke up laughing.

Most of the outtakes are from Knight's instructional golf series called "Golf Your Way." Yes, apparently, Bobby Knight co-hosted an instructional golf series once upon a time. And yes, it looked awesome.

This past March, Knight went on Golf Channel's "Feherty." Here's video of the coach, who was known as "The General," teaching the host how to properly toss a chair, something Knight famously did out of anger at what he thought was a bad call in a 1985 game against Purdue.

"Sometimes people have to be shown more than told." Well said, Bobby. We're sure your golf show was chock full of instructional nuggets like that as well. If only we could see it. . . . Wait, you can buy "Golf Your Way"?! Is it too late to change my Christmas list?
