It looks like it might be some kind of torture device, but the Perfect Release ($57) is a training aid, and it doesn't hurt a bit. Its ultimate goal: synchronizing body and arm movement while promoting extension into the through-swing. A correct move will maintain the tension in the green elastic band throughout the swing, forcing the club along an ideal swing path and creating the correct shaft angles in the backswing and follow-through. The band also lessens the club's weight in your hands, which allows for lighter grip pressure and makes the big muscles do most of the work. The best part? It's not just for practice swings.
