Day 1 at the British Open, as told by GIFs

By Luke Kerr-Dineen

Tiger Woods went nuts on the first hole, but salvaged a good bogey. He went on to shoot a two-under par 69. Here's our 12-second recap:

Luke Donald shot 80 on Thursday, but had a stroke of (very) good fortune on the ninth hole. His third shot hit the sponsor's tent out-of-bounds and bounced back into the fairway. He would save par.

Unfortunately for his 6-iron, Charl Schwartzel turned into the Incredible Hulk on the 15th hole. He was on a bogey-bogey-bogey run that led to a round of 75.

blog-snap-club.gifRory McIlroy showed no signs of ending his slump at Muirfield. He shot 79, tying him with Nick Faldo, who made news earlier in the week for criticizing the Northern Irishman.

But at least ESPN treated us all to this delightful camera angle during a ball-hunt. Until tomorrow.
