How crazy can the world of professional golf be? One week you're setting scoring records in a wire-to-wire win and the next? You're nearly missing the cut and falling on your butt on national TV.

Unfortunately for Phil Mickelson, that last part wasn't a metaphor. Mickelson, in danger of missing the cut after three rounds at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, took a risky line on his tee shot at Pebble's No. 18 and it didn't pay off. But his search to find his golf ball in the hazard proved to be even riskier:

Mickelson never found his ball and wound up hitting another shot into the ocean on his way to a closing triple bogey, which almost ended his week earlier than he wanted. Yes, even for one of the game's all-time greats, life on the PGA Tour can be a bit, um, rocky. . .
