5 in 5 = No. 1 for Cal men

After California's victory at the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational, the Golden Bears easily retained their No. 1 ranking in the latest Golf World/Nike Golf men's coaches' poll, earning 24 of the 25 available first-place votes.

* Liberty makes its first ever appearance in the polls, claiming a share of the No. 22 spot.

* At No. 12, SMU has earned its highest ranking since Golf World resumed the poll during the 2001-02.

* Vanderbilt comes in at No. 13, the highest it has ever been ranked since the poll resumed. It's also the first time the Commodores have been ranked since October 2004.

* At No. 15, Missouri also is ranked the highest it has ever been in the Golf World poll.

* Oklahoma State returns to the poll for the first time since last March.


Men's D-II poll (255) (11-1-2012).jpgNova Southeastern finished the fall season with a win and four runner-up finishes, propelling the Sharks to the No. 1 ranking in the latest Golf World/Nike Golf men's Division II coaches' poll. The Fort Lauderdale, Fla., school claimed 13 of 16 available first-place votes to jump from its No. 2 ranking in the last poll.

Previously No. 1 Barry fell just one spot to the No. 2 position, and earned two first-place votes. The Buccaneers had one win and two second-place showings in five fall starts.


Men's D-III poll (255) (11-1-2012).jpgOglethorpe maintained its spot atop the latest Golf World/Nike Golf men's Division III coaches' poll, earning nine of 13 first-place votes. The Stormy Petrels finished off their fall campaign with two wins and two third-place finishes.


Men's NAIA poll (255) (11-1-2012).jpgWins at the Grand View Classic and the Oklahoma Baptist Invitational rocketed Bellevue from No. 17 into the No. 1 spot in the latest Golf World/Nike Golf men's NAIA coaches' poll. The Bruins earned two first-place votes after posting three other top-five finishes to start the 2012-13 season.

Texas Wesleyan claimed the No. 2 spot, earning five first-place votes. Rounding out the top five are CSU-San Marcos, Oklahoma City (the previously No. 1 ranked school) and University of the Cumberlands.

Odessa jumped from No. 2 to No. 1 in the latest Golf World/Nike Golf men's NJCAA Division I coaches' poll while South Mountain kept its No. 1 position in the Division II poll.

Odessa earned eight of the 10 available first-place votes after winning the NJCAA D-I National Championship preview last month. South Mountain most recently was victorious at the Mississippi Gulf Coast CC Invitational and claimed all seven first-place votes in the D-II poll.
