UCLA women go wire-to-wire at No. 1

UCLA's surprising fourth-place finish at the Pac-12 Championship didn't change many minds regarding the quality of the Bruins' squad. Carrie Forsyth's team, the defending national champions, remained the No. 1 school in the final Golf World/NGCA women's Division I coaches' poll, earning 20 of 21 available first-place votes. UCLA's body of work allowed them to be the top-ranked team for the 20th time in 93 polls conducted since the start of 2001-02, the second most of any school save for Duke (40 times ranked No. 1).

Alabama claimed the lone remaining first-place vote to pull down the No. 2 spot while SEC champion Auburn was ranked No. 3. USC and Duke rounded our the top five.

Colorado cracked the top 10 at No. 10 for the first time since the resumption of poll in 2001-02.

In addition to Colorado, California moved up into the top 10, finishing No. 9 after claiming the Pac-12 title.

Nova Southeastern remaining atop the Division II coaches poll. The Sharks finished second at the Super Regional in Pace, N.J., to advance to the national championship, but was 12 strokes back of champion Florida Southern, setting up an interesting showdown at the national championship May 16-19 at Persimmon Ridge GC in Louisville, Ky.

Methodist was the unanimous selection for the No. 1 spot in the final women's Division III coaches' poll of the spring. The Monarchs claimed all 18 first-place votes as they attempt to win their 15th consecutive NCAA title next week at ZOllner GC in Angola, Ind.
