UCLA women holding steady at No. 1

Is it the calm before the storm ... or just the way the wind is blowing this year. Whatever metaphor you prefer, the fact remains that UCLA hasn't had its No. 1 ranking in the Golf World/NGCA women's coaches' poll threatened much in the 2011-12 season to date.

Of course it helps that the Bruins have finished first in four starts and second in their remaining three tournaments to date, offering little reason to think that the defending NCAA champions have reason for concern as the spring season rolls on.
Women's D-I April 2 poll (360).jpgThere wasn't a tremendous amount of movement in the Division I poll. Colorado's rise to No. 11 again marks the highest spot the Buffaloes have been ranked since the resumption of the poll in 2001-02. Tennessee made the biggest move of any school, jumping from 19th to 14th after claiming its first victory of the season at the LSU Golf Classic. (The Lady Vols' XXth place finish at the Maui Spring Classic yesterday did not count toward this week's poll.)

Women's D-II April 2 poll (360).jpgNova Southeastern continues to play with only four players in its lineup—and continues to be ranked No. 1 in the Division II poll. The Sharks won their last D-II event, taking the team title at the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational, to help them secure nine of the 10 available first-place votes in the poll.

Women's D-III April 2 poll (360).jpgMethodist, fresh off a victory at the Jeykll Island Invitational, keeps its spot again atop the Division III poll. The Monarchs have three wins in the 2011-12 season and two third-place finishes as they eye a 15th straight NCAA title
