Cejka: Albatross on second swing of day

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif -- Despite what you may see on a scoreboard, there is no such thing as a leader at the AT&T Pebble Bach National Pro-Am until three rounds are in and everyone has played the full trifecta of Pebble, Spyglass Hill and Monterey Peninsula CC. And, while the weather forecast is remarkably calm for the entire week, it is predictable in its unpredictability. That doesn't mean, however, that there's nothing going on.

The highlight of the day happened so early half the field probably hadn't even had their first cup of coffee. Alex Cejka's second shot of the day was his best, a choke-down 240-yard 3-wood for a double-eagle on the 10th at MPCC.

"There were like four marshals and three or four people. Once the ball was rolling towards the hole they got louder and louder and suddenly everybody was raising up their hands," said Cejka who finished at six-under par, one shot behind Steve Marino and D.A. Points. "You know, this is luck. Even hole-in-ones or shots like this, this is always 80% luck. You can hit a great shot but it took the break perfectly. You can't judge that from 240 yards. It was one of those great shots that I will remember for the rest of my life."

Cejka was paired with Kevin Sutherland, who eagled the hole, making the twosome five-under after one. "Every player has a couple courses out here where he plays well," said Cejka. "How can you not love it here? It's great. I come here with a great attitude." And why not?"
