This just in: Tiger to play here...and here

The fact that Tiger Woods won't commit early to events (other than those for which he is receiving an appearance fee) continues to attract attention, notably in San Diego, site of the Farmers Insurance Open.

"Fowler in Farmers; still waiting on Woods," a headline in the San Diego Union-Tribune read.

Geoff Shackelford linked to the story in a post on his blog, to which he wrote this headline: "Steiny Still Trying To Get Tiger To Commit Early, To No Avail!"

It is an unnecessary exercise. Woods' schedule, whether he commits early or not, is largely predictable and has been for years.

Yes, he'll play the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines. Woods has won the last five tournaments he's played at Torrey Pines, including a U.S. Open. No doubt desperate to end a losing streak, Woods is a cinch to return to Torrey Pines.

He'll next play the Dubai Desert Classic (to which he already has committed), the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship, the WGC-Cadillac Championship, the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the Masters, the Wells Fargo Championship, the Players Championship, the Memorial, the U.S. Open, the AT&T National, the British Open, the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, the PGA Championship and the four FedEx Cup playoff events, assuming he qualifies for four. That adds to 17 PGA Tour events.

This schedule might vary, but if it does, it will do so only minimally.
