John Daly's 'miraculous recovery'

October 13, 2009

The PGA of Australia's website is reporting that in December John Daly will play the Australian Open and Australian PGA Championship after all, "thanks to a miraculous recovery" from the rib injury that was supposed to have sidelined him until 2010.

Daly also has announced that he will play the Viking Classic in Madison, Miss., a Fall Series event on the PGA Tour scheduled for the end of October.

"My recovery from stem cell surgery has been closely monitored by my doctor and I have been cleared to begin playing competitively in two weeks," he said.

"I regret the confusion the injury process has caused but I'm relieved things have begun moving in the right direction. I look forward to returning to Australia and am grateful the Australian Open and Australian PGA Championship have provided me with the opportunity to play in these premier events."

On Twitter, Daly said this yesterday:

"My rib is feeling a little better---Just committed to play the 'Viking Classic' in Jackson, Mississippi---Hope to see you all out there!"

Then today he followed with this:

"oh and yes----gonna hit the AUSSIE TOUR!"
