It was so bad it was good
AKRON, Ohio -- Here's how England's Oliver Wilson described his play following the second round of the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational Friday:
-- "It was horrific all day. It was probably the wildest I have ever hit it off the tee."
-- "Today it was just pathetic."
-- "I hit it all over the place...I managed to hit a few fairways and greens, but they weren't good shots. It is just abysmal. I literally had not a clue where it was going on the back nine."
-- "I came here and my body is just all over the place, my alignment, my setup. I just feel so uncomfortable. My weight is on my left side and everything is askew. At the end of the day it starts to feel a bit better and then the next day I come out and it's just as bad again. It's like banging my head against a brick wall at the moment."
Wilson, incidentally, shot his second straight one-under par 69 at the difficult Firestone Country Club. Though he may have sounded as though he's on the verge of quitting, he can't. He's in contention.
