What now for Wie?

April 04, 2009

The enigmatic Michelle Wie this week has produced more questions than answers as to where her golf is. On Saturday, in the third round of the Kraft Nabisco Championship, scoring conditions were considerably better than they were on a windswept Friday afternoon, yet Wie shot a second-consecutive nine-over par 81. Through three rounds, Wie is at 17-over par 233 and in last place among the the 70 players who made the cut. She's had six double-bogeys in her last two rounds.

Wie has never finished worse than a tie for 14th in four previous starts in this tournament, and finished fourth as a 14-year-old in 2004 and tied for third in 2006 as a 16-year-old.

This isn't progress, it's regress.
